Full Time Chef
Since 2020, dWELL has been an affirming recovery housing program on a mission to support young adults in their transition to independence through residences and a community-based approach that supports growth and healing. We provide a personalized, foundational, skills-based model that helps young adults pursue their individual life goals. We are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented, and innovative HR Generalist to join our New York City team and contribute to our goal of making a difference. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a background in working in an environment that specializes in substance use and mental health related disorders including Eating Disorders.
What You Will Do:
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching residents of the community how to cook healthy meals.
- Prepare dinners for 30-40 residents 7 days a week.
- Working with the dWELL team to ensure residents have a weekly grocery list prepared for grocery shopping.
- Cooking Expertise: Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, culinary trends, and healthy cooking principles.
- Dietary Knowledge: Familiarity with different dietary needs and restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, Kosher, and allergen-free diets.
- Menu Planning: Proficient in menu planning, recipe development, and creating diverse and nutritionally balanced meal options.
- Must be able to lift and transport moderate to heavy items (up to 25 pounds) as part of related responsibilities.
What You Need to Qualify:
- Culinary Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a chef, with a focus on cooking for families or individuals.
- Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively plan and execute meal preparation.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing needs and preferences of the residents, including occasional adjustments to the work schedule.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with the residents, discussing dietary preferences, meal planning, and addressing any dietary needs.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Knowledge of proper food safety protocols and adherence to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Ability to lift 20–40 lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, or respond quickly during emergencies
- Ability to walk multiple levels of stairs multiple times daily
- Must be able to complete facility rounds and inspections

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 12pm-8pm
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 (commensurate on experience)Ability to commute: New York, NY 10023: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
